Ted Cruz, born in Canada, ceased to be a Canadian citizen on May 14, 2014 only after renouncing his Canadian citizenship. However, he believes he understands the immigration process so well even though he didn’t know he was a citizen of Canada until August 2013 when a newspaper pointed it to him. It took Ted Cruz almost 43 years to realize he was a dual citizen. Oh, and by the way, Cruz was born in Canada and not the United States making him an immigrant as well. Cruz was born to a US citizen mother and a Cuban father. Ironically, both parents were immigrants when Ted Cruz was born as they were living in Canada at the time of his birth. Adding to the irony even further, Cruz’ father did not become a US citizen until 2005. Yet, he wants to keep other immigrants out of the United States.
